The MOST® technique
Measuring work accurately is a fundamental and essential ingredient in any and every organisation. As a proven work measurement tool, the MOST® technique is an ideal choice for creating those all-important structured time standards that are the backbone of all business sectors. With MOST® you can create accurate time data in virtually every business sector, whether for occasional use or as a corporate measurement tool.
MOST® (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique) is not only a faster work measurement technique, it ensures a much more detailed method description than say, Time Study or estimating.
It’s a more precise approach to work measurement and productivity improvement.
A progression of MTM, MOST® provides precise analyses that highlight the opportunities to reduce complicated or excessive movement and therefore time, human effort and cost. How Lean a tool is that?
MOST® is a registered trademark of Accenture.
The basis of MOST®
26 letters, 19 basic movements
Think how much is written in English (novels, editorial, technical and legal publications etc) – each is different in some way, yet they all involve combinations of the same 26 letters of the alphabet.
Consider also how many different jobs and activities there are, even just in your own field of business. In reality, to perform any task requires combinations of 19 basic human movements in varying sequences. This is the basis of the MOST® technique.
It’s a method for measuring human work that focuses on grouping motions together into pre-defined sequence models, which you use to build times, like you use words to build sentences.
An ideal tool for developing methods – and improving them
With the detailed description which establishes the time needed to perform an activity, MOST® is a clear pointer to where a method can be improved. It provides traceable and concise time calculations that indicate the opportunities for saving time, money and human effort.
MOST® enables you more quickly and more effectively to
- analyse method steps and allocate appropriate time values
- better assess times at design and development stages and assess comparative methods
- demonstrate, discuss, understand and verify the accuracy of a method with its suitable time standards
- assign times to changed methods or activities or specifications
- update with software small common changes in data across all activities, sub operations and operations
The WOW factors with MOST®
MOST® is a technique that allows work to be specified, measured and then evaluated in a consistent and repeatable format.
With MOST® data you see not just WHAT is done, but in detail HOW it’s done, highlighting opportunities.
The time data generated by MOST® is scalable and transferable, making it ideal for any organisation that wants to establish common standards across multiple locations.
MOST® is a well proven system that’s used all over the world in just about every type of business or sector.
